The Del Oro High girls basketball team is headed back to Power Balance Pavilion with some revenge in mind. The Golden Eagles rallied in the fourth quarter, then pulled away in overtime to top Presentation 63-59 Saturday night in the CIF Northern California Division II semifinals in San Jose. Senior Madeline Campbell scored 13 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter as Del Oro stormed back from a six-point deficit. The visitors got 3-pointers from Belle Obert and Brianna Ruiz to start overtime and the defense held Presentation to just three points in OT. Del Oro will get another shot at St. Mary’s of Stockton on March 19. The Rams edged the Eagles 70-65 to win the Sac-Joaquin Section title last Saturday. “It was definitely a goal in the back of their minds, but we knew we had tough games to get back there,” Del Oro coach Mike Takayama said. “It’s an encouragement for us to win tonight and know that St. Mary’s was still in it too. I know we’re looking forward to the rematch.” Ruiz finished with 19 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Del Oro (27-4) in the win over the Panthers. Obert added 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four blocks. Stephanie Geyer played a key role with her defense in the second half. “We were down and things weren’t looking good,” Takayama said. “Stephanie came in and guarded their post (Joesetta Fateusi) and did a great job. We went with a three post look and it worked tonight.” A large group of Del Oro fans spurred the Eagles to victory and their second NorCal title game appearance under Takayama. Del Oro fell to Acalanes in the 1999 NorCal final.
