LOOMIS — If there was any doubt Del Oro High football is back after two convincing road wins against perennial powers, the Golden Eagles dispelled it in their home opener Friday night. Bryce Pratt scored his only two touchdowns in a dominant first quarter, igniting an offensive onslaught that fueled Del Oro’s 62-12 rout of Franklin. “We just worked hard all week and it paid off tonight,” said Pratt, who finished with a modest 127 yards on 17 carries after piling up more than 500 yards on the ground in his first two games. Freddie Cargile caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Max Magleby with 1:40 left in the first quarter. He intercepted a pass on the first play of the ensuing Wildcats (2-1) drive and returned it 29 yards for another score, just nine seconds later. “All week we talked about how we made a big statement the last two weeks and we had to come out this week ready to go from the very first play, and really we did that,” Cargile said. “You get up a few touchdowns, and everybody gets going.” Two minutes after his interception return, Cargile caught a toss from Magleby behind the line of scrimmage and threw a lateral pass down the sideline to Brandon Acuna for a 61-yard touchdown that put the Eagles up 35-0. “We put those trick plays in there every once in a while, but it’s not every game we get to run them, so it was a lot of fun,” Cargile said. Del Oro (3-0) led 56-6 at halftime before turning the game over to its second string, which put the finishing touches on the largest loss in Franklin's eight-year history.
