The Del Oro High boys basketball team crushed Roseville 70-21 Wednesday night, using a dominant defensive effort to improve to 5-4 in the Sierra Foothill League. The Golden Eagles held the Tigers to just three points in the second quarter and blanked the home team in the fourth. Senior Spencer Butterfield scored 17 points to lead the visitors while senior Nico Ruiz tossed in 12 and junior Aaron Hendricks had nine. Roseville, which turned the ball over 30 times in the contest, was led by Nick Schwyzer's eight points. Del Oro, which was ninth in this week’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division III power ratings, will face Nevada Union Friday in Loomis.
