Construction moves forward on new Town Square
The parking lot in front of Civic Center was a pile of rubble on Thursday morning, as construction crews dug up the concrete to make way for the new Town Square in downtown Roseville.
The outdoor gathering space will include a water fountain, stage for theatrical and musical performances, public WiFi, restrooms, seating and space for vendor fairs. The Town Square is scheduled to be complete early next year.
The Town Square Capital Improvement Project will cost an estimated $8.25 million, which comes from funds set aside during better economic times, according to the city.
The project is part of an overall revitalization vision for downtown. In August 2011, Roseville City Council approved 13 projects in downtown and Old Town to be completed over three years for $37 million. They include the Town Square, changes to pedestrian bridges and infrastructure improvements.
