You may not believe it this year, but the Sacramento Valley typically enjoys 320 days of sunshine annually. Throughout the world — and since almost the beginning of civilization — people have harnessed the sun’s solar rays to cook food and much later to power calculators, increase the productivity of agricultural crops and generate electricity for buildings. To celebrate the life-giving light of the sun, the City of Roseville will host its third-annual All Things Solar Day at the Utility Exploration Center. Come down for a fun-filled afternoon of solar cooking, interactive family activities and the chance to meet with local green vendors. Learn about new technologies that can help you practice conservation, while lowering your monthly utility bill. Meet with Roseville Electric staff and learn about the latest rebates on energy-efficient appliances and solar systems. ~Sena Christian ---------- All Things Solar Day takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Utility Exploration Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville. The event is free. For more information, visit or call Matthew Davis, Solar Day event coordinator at (916) 746-1660
