In an effort to help residents of southern Placer County, the Auburn California Highway Patrol area office is setting up safety and service outposts in Granite Bay and Meadow Vista this week. The purpose of the outpost is to provide a point-of-service for those communities that are far away from the CHP office in Newcastle. The outpost will provide services such as child safety seat inspections, “fix-it” ticket correction signoffs and recruiting information. Other services will include vehicle equipment information and Vehicle Identification Number checks. The outposts will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on selected weekdays and are planned for once a month (weather permitting). On Monday, an outpost will be set up at Meadow Vista Fire Department on Placer Hills Road at Combie Road in Meadow Vista. On Thursday, an outpost will be set up in the Quarry Ponds parking lot next to Peet’s Coffee & Tea at 5550 Douglas Blvd. in Granite Bay. For more information, contact Officer Dave Montijo at the CHP Auburn Area Office at 663-3344.
