Readers share their favorite spots to chow down on chow mein
-A +A

Monday is Chinese New Year, ushering in the Year of the Dragon. Why not enjoy one of these Chinese restaurants our readers said were tops? Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Granite Bay Chinese Restaurant

6875 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay

“Very easy choice for my vote: Granite Bay Chinese Restaurant in the Raley’s shopping center. The food is consistently yummy and the staff is always friendly. Plus, they don’t skimp on ingredients. And ... now I am craving Chinese.”

~ Cherie Cintas, Granite Bay

Golden Dragon Restaurant

4800 Granite Drive, Rocklin

“They are the real deal. We were introduced to it by two different families we know who are from China. It would be nice if they got more business.”

~ Amy Ochi, Granite Bay

Bambu Asian Cuisine

1090 Pleasant Grove Blvd. #100, Roseville

“Bambu is a great restaurant with nice ambiance. Great place for ‘date night’ with your significant other or a night out with the family. Fresh and great tasting food with big portions at reasonable prices. We always leave with a bag of leftovers for lunch the next day. I’ve been going here for several years and have never had a bad meal. They have had the same staff for as long as I’ve been visiting – they are always friendly and helpful.”

~ Mike Hazen, Roseville

Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant

1079 Sunrise Ave., Roseville

“They are great because the food is delicious and the service is quick. Anything you order is sure to be a good choice! My favorite is the Honey-Walnut Prawns and I encourage everyone to give them a try.”

~ Lauren Castellanos, Roseville

Golden City

2002 S. Cirby Way, Roseville

“For the past 10 years, it has been my ‘go-to’ place when we’re hungry and too tired/lazy to cook. I love having the leftovers the next day. The food is consistently good and inexpensive. It is more of a take-out place, although there are a few tables. They have special prices, but we always order our favorites by the entr?e price. I have tried take-out from a few other area Chinese food restaurants but find that the quality wasn’t better and the prices were higher. Golden City is a great neighborhood place: friendly service with good, cheap, food.”

~ Janet O’Meara, Roseville

Chopsticks

1000 Sunrise Ave., Roseville

“First, it’s very clean and well cared for. As for service, no matter how busy they are, the wait-staff is always friendly and quick with a smile. And then, there’s the food. In a word, “YUM!” Prices are very fair, considering the quality of the dishes served. Of significant importance is the ‘missing ingredient’ in any dish you order: No MSG.”

~ Frank Hopkins, Roseville

Roseville Gourmet

107 S. Harding Blvd., Roseville

“Not your typical greasy chop & slop Chinese food. Fresh, consistent flavors with long-time friendly staff.”

~ Becky McMaster, Roseville

Great Wall Grill

1850 Douglas Blvd., Roseville

“Chinese food is dime-a-dozen these days and few restaurants emerge above the rest. (Our pick in the cheap category is) Great Wall Grill (Mongolian BBQ). It’s just a hole in the wall in the TJ Maxx shopping center, but packs a punch. They have an enormous selection of ingredients and flavors, including spices you can sprinkle on top. Every meal comes with rice, soup or salad, and appetizers.”

~ Barry Brown, Roseville

Tsing Tao Restaurant

8675 Auburn Folsom Road, Granite Bay

“Best Chinese food in the area is a hole-in-wall place called Tsing Tao Restaurant on Auburn Folsom. The place looks outdated and decor is from the 1980s, but their food is pretty good. It’s a little greasy but good value for the money. We’re a Chinese family that relocated to the area and have tried nearly all the Asian restaurants in the area.”

~ Lester and Emily Chan, Granite Bay
