Hanna Chellew of Roseville has successfully completed California Highway Patrol cadet training, and has been assigned to duty the CHP’s West Los Angeles Area office. Officer Chellew is a 2004 graduate of Bear River High School in Grass Valley. She earned her bachelor of arts in criminal justice from California State University, Sacramento. Prior to joining CHP, she worked as a records assistant for the Sacramento Police Department. Officer Chellew’s father, Charles Chellew, is a captain who works of the CHP’s State Security Division in Sacramento. Her brother, Lucas Chellew, graduated from the CHP Academy in May of this year and is assigned to duty in the CHP’s West Valley Area office. Cadet training for Officer Chellew included vehicle patrol, accident investigation, first aid, apprehension, and arrest of suspected violators. Training also included learning about those who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, traffic control, report writing, recovery of stolen vehicles, assisting the motoring public, issuing citations, emergency scene management, and knowledge of various codes including the Vehicle Code, Penal Code, and Health and Safety Code.
