After being told that there was no scholarship money available at his college of choice, Valley Christian Academy pitcher Ryan Cordell had made other plans. The right-hander was heading to Sierra College for a year with hopes of transferring at that point to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. All of that changed last week when an injury situation opened up a scholarship at Liberty and on Monday, Cordell signed a letter of intent to play baseball at the school. Cordell, who also plays a strong shortstop and swings the bat very well will have options there. He was also a first-team all-league basketball player for the Lions.
