Help commemorate the service and sacrifice of war veterans at the Korean War Memorial ceremony Saturday. City of Roseville Mayor Pro Tempore Pauline Roccucci will recognize Jim Berg as “Veteran of the Year.” Berg has served as bugler at more than 900 military funerals during the past 30 years. He has also served in color guard for many years. The Consul General of South Korea will also be in attendance, along with Col. Doyle Redmond, the area’s most decorated veteran. This year’s event is especially important as it marks the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War, which began June 25, 1950 and ended with the signing of an armistice three years later. All residents are invited to attend the annual memorial ceremony, which will include live music, laying of a wreath and historical memories. The event starts at 11 a.m. at the Korean War Memorial in Maidu Park, 1550 Maidu Dr. in Roseville. ~ Sena Christian
