The public is invited to honor those who have served their country in a variety of annual Veterans Day festivities to be held Wednesday, Nov. 11. Start off the day with a pancake breakfast hosted and cooked by 4th District Assemblyman Ted Gaines from 8:30- 10 a.m. at the Veterans Hall in Roseville with a ceremony at 11 a.m. in the dinning room.  Congressman Tom McClintock will be a featured speaker as well as Assemblyman Ted Gaines and Supervisor Rocky Rockholm. The keynote speaker will be Colonel John Lathrop, an Iraq veteran and Commander of the 115 RSG California National Guard headquartered in Roseville. There will be a light lunch served after the event. The American Legion Post 169, VFW Post 1487, Fleet Reserve and Vietnam Veterans chapter 500 are sponsoring this morning celebration. The festivities continue at 2 p.m. at the WWll monument on Vernon Street where a Veterans Day program sponsored by local veterans groups, the city of Roseville, Surewest and the Roseville Historical Society will take place. Event organizer John Piches notes this year’s event is taking place at a later time than usual to give more people an opportunity to attend. He added this year’s program will carry a Revolutionary War theme, and will feature special guest Martha Washington (or at least her modern incarnation). The entire community is encouraged to attend. ~ Staff report
