Center Scott Romuk put on a show as the Cavitt Junior High School eighth-grade basketball team scored a 55-40 win over Cooley at Cavitt on Thursday. The Cowboy big man scored 24 points, snared 10 boards, grabbed a pair of steals and dished out two assists to lead his squad to the impressive win. Dan Johnson played the role of dynamic sidekick to Romuk’s headliner performance with a dozen points and 16 rebounds. The presence of Johnson on the glass was critical to the Cavitt effort to combat Cooley’s impressive frontcourt size. Most of the offensive damage for the Cobras, however, came courtesy the perimeter game of Nolan Eger. Eger was on fire from beyond the arc early, coming off the bench to drain a trio of threes before taking advantage of the extended defense to drive inside for buckets and to earn free throw opportunities. The contest marked the end of the 2008 Foothill Intermediate School Athletic League season for the two teams.
