A car rolled over early on Thanksgiving, taking the life of a William Jessup University student. Justin Woodard, 26, of Antelope, lived on the Rocklin campus and went to Living Hope Christian Church in Roseville, the school said in a release. Lincoln police said he was pronounced dead at the scene on Moore Road near Pheasant Way in Lincoln. Officers found Woodard trapped inside his car, which was on its side, south of the roadway. The cause is under investigation. William Jessup said the psychology major was “well known” at school, where he was a also security guard. In the past, Woodard worked as a resident assistant, in the cafeteria and in the facilities department. “We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Justin’s family, friends and colleagues,” church relations director Jim Jessup said. “We know he is in a better place.” Last summer, Woodard joined the school in a mission to Cambodia, the release said. Living Hope Pastor Mark Dahlin will preside over a memorial service at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the university, the release said. The school plans to present a chapel service offering to Woodard’s family. It has hosted a bonfire, as well as a memory area at its Prayer Chapel The family of Woodard, an only child to mother Donna, reportedly requested donations be made to the William Jessup University Fund, Agape International Missions and Teen Challenge in Woodard’s memory. ~ Lien Hoang
