Camp tops 23-car field, snags third Street Stock victory of season in Roseville

Matt Camp scored his third victory this season and first since May 19 in the 35-lap Street Stock main event Saturday night at All American Speedway.

Camp started on the pole and led a 23-car field to the green flag. Camp set the pace for 25 laps until he was passed by Josh Whitfield. Camp, runner-up Eric Price and Dave Sciarroni all passed Whitfield on lap 30 and finished in that order.

Camp was the No. 1 qualifier at 15.079 seconds around the one-third-mile paved oval, one-thousandth of a second quicker than Richard Poppert Jr. at 15.080.
Camp, Mickey Owens and Eric Martinez won heat races, and Mel Wilson claimed the dash to prevent Camp from recording a sweep.

Scott Winters took the lead nine laps from the end of the 40-lap Modified feature and had a margin of victory of .529 of a second over Jason Bamberg to score his seventh checkered flag this season.

Bamberg took the lead from Winters on lap four and led the next 27 laps. Nine cars started the main.

Winters was the top qualifier at 14.248. Lindgren won a heat and the dash. Chase Grigsby took the other heat.

Two-time reigning Late Model track champion Matt Scott led wire to wire to win the 75-lap main event by 1.581 seconds over Michael Roman. It was Scott’s third checkered flag this season.

Scott topped qualifying at 13.948, but Chris Scribner took the dash to prevent a Scott sweep.

BMR driver Holmes is third in Portland

Reigning NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion and current points leader Greg Pursley of Newhall led all 63 laps to win the NAPA Auto Parts Salute To The Troops 125 on Sunday at Portland International Raceway.

The victory was Pursley’s fourth this season. Michael Self of Park City, Utah, placed second, .655 of a second behind Pursley on the 1.967-mile road course.

Three-time Pro Series West champion Eric Holmes, driving for Bill McAnally Racing of Roseville, started second, finished third and remained fifth in points.

BMR driver Cameron Hayley started sixth but finished nine laps down in 22nd place. Hayley is eighth in points. Dylan Hutchison of Fair Oaks finished 30th. He had a transmission problem and was 20 laps down.

The race will be televised on the SPEED channel at noon Sept. 6.
