Come one, come all. Stand on your hands.

Byers Gymnastics Center in Roseville is part of a nationwide group that will attempt to break a world record Saturday, Sept. 17, for most handstands performed at one time.

As part of National Gymnastics Day, Byers gymnasts, family members, friends and anyone else who wants to join the fun will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday inside the football stadium at Woodcreek High School. Handstands also will be done at Byers in Roseville and Citrus Heights.

Everyone taking part will do a handstand at 10 a.m. The event helps raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Byers co-owner Kim Bruns said invitations to partake in the event were extended to California Family Fitness, Kaia F.I.T., Robinson’s Taekwondo, Mathnasium, Kids Art Studio, Woodcreek cheer and dance and all football, swimming, soccer, baseball and softball leagues in Roseville.

The current record for handstands at one time is 2,402, set in 2005 in Australia.
“We’re very excited to get involved,” Bruns said. “Parents and anyone not in gymnastics, we’ll help them hold their handstand.”
