At 10:27 a.m., a Roseville resident on Secret Ravine Drive noticed a suspicious man prowling on the back patio of an apartment. Roseville police officers said the suspect may have realized he was spotted since he fled the area at roughly the same time that the call came in to emergency dispatchers. Police checked the apartment and found that a screen had been bent and removed from a back window. Police described it as an attempted burglary stopped by an alert witness. The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 280 pounds. He was wearing a black and gray jacket or sweater and black pants.
Around 11 a.m., a Roseville resident living in the 1600 block of Chilton Drive heard a strange noise in his laundry room. Investigating, the homeowner ran into an intruder. The potential burglar ran away. Roseville police said the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked side gate before heading into the house through a pedestrian door. The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 19 and 20. He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build. The witness said was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, black sweatpants with white Nike logos and new-looking athletic shoes.
Just before noon, a witness flagged down a Roseville police officer near a fitness center in the 1800 Douglas Blvd. The witness had allegedly watched a female transient steal clothes items from unlocked vehicles. The witness reportedly detained the woman until Roseville police arrived. Muriam Khan, 25, was arrested for prowling, possession of burglar’s tools and driving without a license.
At 4:18 a.m., a Roseville resident living in the 1600 block of Old Hart Ranch Road noticed a man walking around the neighborhood and looking into vehicles parked in driveways. The witness called Roseville police, who quickly arrived and contacted the suspect. Officers ultimately arrested the suspect, Kenneth Runestrand, 52, of Roseville, for prowling and possessing burglar's tools.
Sometime during the night, thieves stole catalytic converters from the bottoms of five different U-Haul trucks that had been parked in the 100 block of Wills Road.
Around 4:30 a construction worker allegedly saw a man stealing a guitar from a model home in the 4000 block of Porch Swing Drive. The construction worker started chasing the suspect, eventually catching him in the area of Crocker Ranch Road and Terracina Circle. He held the suspect until Roseville police arrived. Scott Elliot Gardner, 24, of Antelope was arrested on suspicion of burglary. The guitar was returned to its owner.
