Boy Scout "changes lives" of foster youth
Granite Bay Boy Scout Brandon Alpert, 15, recently helped repair and paint Koinonia Homes for Teens in Loomis to earn his Eagle Scout rank.
Several months ago, Alpert began fundraising and recruiting industry professionals to volunteer on the project. They worked with the young men of Koinonia to tackle the paint job.
This recently completed project gave many of the Koinonia foster youth a chance to work with building professionals and develop a sense of pride and ownership.
"Our teens come from backgrounds that didn't offer many opportunities," said Bill Ryland, of Koinonia, in a press release. "Brandon will never fully know the difference he truly made. He started out to paint a building for the kids and ended up changing lives."
