BMR's Holmes places second in Utah Pro Series West race

Roseville's Bam Bam Boxing wins three fights

Bill McAnally Racing driver Eric Holmes placed second in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race Saturday at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

Holmes started second behind pole-winner Greg Pursley of Newhall and led the Utah Grand Prix for one lap. Pursley, the 2011 series champion, led the first 21 laps and sustained a flat tire on lap 39. Pursley regained the lead on lap 49 and won the 50-lap event for the third year in a row on the 2.2-mile road course.

BMR driver Cameron Hayley finished eighth. Dylan Hutchison, a regular at All American Speedway, finished 22nd.

Pro Series West will be at Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday.

Three wins for Bam Bam Boxing

Chavo Ibarra, Aaron Cadena and Tito De La Torre, boxing for Lord’s Gym/Bam Bam Boxing of Roseville, recorded victories Saturday at Superior Fighting Academy in West Sacramento.

Lord’s Gym fighters were 3-0 on the 22-bout card and now have won eight matches in a row, including three by TKO.

Ibarra, 20, weighing 150 pounds, improved to 3-0 by defeating Ramon Torrez of Fairfield's D.F. Boxing Club. Cadena, 11, fighting at 106 pounds, defeated Jose Silva of the Caballero Boxing Club in South Sacramento. De La Torre (3-0), 24, fighting at 141 pounds, beat Rod Rodriguez of the Conley Boxing Club in North Highlands.
