A new restaurant is bringing traditional tastes of Thailand to Roseville.

Papaya Thai Cuisine opened its doors at 5015 Foothills Blvd., on the corner of Foothills and Junction boulevards, about two weeks ago. Chef and owner Pang Sydathong prepares traditional Thai fare from family recipes that have been handed down through the generations.

Sydathong is a family man with four kids whose wife works for the Yuba County Sherriff’s Department as a dispatcher. He said his dream has been to open a restaurant and share his Thai heritage and cooking experience.

“I thought I’d share my culture,” he said. “All the seasoning and sauces come from my family’s recipes.”

The restaurant offers lunch specials and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The restaurant is closed Sundays.
