Biz Buzz: Jungle-themed café roars into downtown
Downtown Roseville’s newest coffee shop opened up last week — with a roar.
Extreme Java Jungle Café opened at 400 Vernon St. in Roseville Thursday, offering an array of coffee drinks, espresso, sandwiches, soups, pastries and more.
The coffee shop also goes to an “extreme” level by offering beer and wine.
Owner Ralph Drewitz said he will open early and stay up late, featuring karaoke on Fridays and Sundays, live music on Saturdays, open mic night on Wednesdays, NFL football on Sunday and Monday and free wi-fi.
The coffee shop will also feature 19 varieties of brewed coffee with beans roasted fresh from the Rodgers Family Coffee Company in Lincoln.
Hours are 5:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday; 6:30 a.m. to midnight, Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call (916) 788-7424.
The Kaiser Permanente’s Roseville Medical Center was recently named one of 2011 Leapfrog Top Hospitals, an honor that rewards hospitals for outstanding success in such areas as using electronic health records to reduce medication and other errors, lowering infection rates, maintaining appropriate physician and nursing staffing and other measures of safety and efficiency.
This is the second year in a row that the medical center has been named a Top Leapfrog Hospital.
The Leapfrog Group is a coalition of public and private purchasers of employee health coverage founded a decade ago to work for improvements in health care safety, quality and affordability.

The new office is located at 2998 Douglas Blvd., Ste. 300 in the Roseville Corporate Center. The move to a larger space will allow the company to continue to grow its staff and provide additional services to better support client needs.

Community 1st Bank has named long-time banking executive Robert Haydon as president and chief executive officer. Haydon has been serving as interim CEO, but has committed to serve for the foreseeable future.
Haydon began his career in 1967 with Placer Savings and Loan Association and served in a number of capacities, including senior executive vice president in charge of operations.
The board also announced that Russell Baldo, a founding member of the board of directors, as the new chairman of the board, to release Haydon who served as chairman since the bank opened in 2005.
In a third bank appointment, Bob Sinclair was named the bank’s new vice chairman. Sinclair is a Rocklin resident and has been on the board of directors since 2007. He is the owner of Sinclair Law Office in Roseville.
