Biz Buzz: Home brew shop open for business
Beer fans raise your glasses. The Brewmeister celebrated its grand opening Saturday, amid plenty of “cheers” from home brewers and local beer enthusiasts. The Gold Country Brewers Association was on site brewing a 50-gallon batch of beer.
The new store, located at 1031 Junction Blvd., Suite 802 in Roseville, is the second location for owner Erik Schmid. The store offers everything the home brewer needs including boilers, bottles and more than 60 varieties of malts and hops.
Schmid is a graduate of the American Brewers Guild and offers classes for beginner and advanced students as well as home brew kits with his own recipes.
The store also offers wine making classes and supplies. For more information, visit www.shopbrewmeister.com or call (916) 802-4801.
Charley’s Grilled Subs recently opened its newest location in the Westfield Galleria at Roseville. This is the second location in the region for franchisee Robert Cheung under Modesto Ventures, LLC. The restaurant specializes in Philly cheese steak sandwiches, with 100 percent USDA choice steak, all-natural cheeses, fresh produce and fresh bread. All dishes are made to order. Charley’s is also known for its gourmet cheese fries, lemonade, fresh salads and other sub sandwiches.
Jim and Julie Sweet, owners of Bunz & Company on Judah Street in Downtown Roseville, closed the business after 25 years on June 1. Julie Sweet said the couple has sold the business back to original owner and former NFL player Dan Bunz. She said Bunz will likely remodel the building and could reopen sometime later in June.
The next Placer Biz Tweetup will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 12 at La Provence in Roseville. The Tweetup is an offline opportunity for business owners and consumers to build connections with people they are somehow connected to online, according to event organizers Josh Unfried and Ray Young. Appetizers and beverages will be served at the event. The event is free, but registration is limited. For more information or to sign up, visit www.placerbusinesstweetup.com.
Roseville’s Camping World RV Sales was recently recognized as Winnebago Circle of Excellence dealers. The Circle of Excellence award is given to select dealers throughout the country who have earned the highest rankings in customer satisfaction as it relates to the customers' sales and service experience with the dealer.
Roseville-based Rabobank ranked highest in customer satisfaction among retail banks in California for the second consecutive year, according to a study by J.D. Power and Associates. Rabobank received a score of 803, which was 64 points above the industry average of 739 in California, according to the study.
The annual study explores retail banking customers’ satisfaction with their primary financial institution based on six factors: account activities, account information, facility, fees, problem resolution and product offerings.
“We’re on a lifelong journey with our customers and earning the top spot in California for the second straight year shows us that we’re on the right path,” said Mark Borrecco, executive vice president of community banking, in a statement. “When you receive an award like this, you can either rest on your laurels or work hard to receive it again.”
