Be storm ready

Roseville Electric offers tips to prepare for power outages during heavy storms
-A +A
When fierce winter storms hit, Roseville Electric customers may experience power outages. The electric utility encourages customers to be storm ready by properly storing lightweight outdoor furniture and accessories and removing outdoor debris to avoid those items being carried away by strong winds and into overhead power lines. Inspect and trim tree branches and other landscaping to avoid contact with overhead power lines too. While Roseville Electric said its crews work diligently to restore power — even during windy and rainy storms — it’s important for residents to prepare to potentially be without electricity. Some local retailers sell emergency preparedness kits, but people can also create their own. These kinds of kits can be used for any type of emergency situation, including a power outage. Roseville Electric recommends the kit includes flashlights, extra batteries and a battery operated radio. In the meantime, if a resident encounters a downed power line, he or she should not touch it, and should call 911. To report an electric outage, call (916) 774-5428.
