Bayside West finds permanent home

Church relocates from middle school cafeteria to building on Foothills Boulevard

Since Bayside West of Roseville started about four and a half years ago, the congregation has met for services at a less-than-ideal location — a middle school. Although Silverado Middle School served the church well through the years, the congregation was ready to move on. “Being a church plant and setting up and tearing down was a great start, but we knew it wasn’t going to be our last stop,” said senior pastor Chuck Wysong in a press release. “We wanted a permanent location where we could offer all sorts of ministries to the community rather than just meeting one day a week.” Bayside West is a member of the Bayside Covenant Church, headquartered in Granite Bay. The family of churches has 11 members. The west Roseville plant recently found its new home with the purchase of a building on Foothills Boulevard in Roseville. The church also changed its name to Bayside West Community Church. “There’s this sense of permanence, this sense that we’re digging our roots down deep into this great community and wanting to really make a difference in people’s spiritual, physical, emotional and social lives,” Wysong said. The building will allow the church to expand the types and sizes of its ministries, he said. In addition to existing children’s, youth, adult and college ministries, Bayside West will add groups and events to meet the needs of senior adults, singles, young mothers and those in recovery. The building will also allow the church to offer seminars and conferences for young families, and includes individual rooms for infant and early childhood care during services. Small groups will be able to meet at the site for Bible study rather than meeting in members’ homes. The church purchased the building for $3.4 million after a fast-paced capital campaign last spring. The overall site includes a sanctuary for services, nearly a dozen meeting rooms, administrative offices and a kitchen. “Our new church home allows us to better serve the community and live up to our longtime slogan, ‘You matter to God, kids matter to us and we matter to each other,’” Wysong said. To celebrate the building purchase and introduce the new location to community members, Bayside West will hold a series of grand-opening events this month, beginning Sunday, Oct. 3 and continuing each Sunday through Oct. 31. Pastor Wysong will lead a message series titled “The Five Best Decisions You Will Ever Make” at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services during the grand openings. ~ Sena Christian ---------- What: Bayside West Community Church introductory events When: 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services Sundays from Oct. 3 to Oct. 31 Where: 10020 Foothills Blvd. in Roseville Cost: Free Info: Call Bayside West at (916) 788-2697 or visit Special events include jump houses and local food vendors including It’s A Grind, Jamba Juice, Parker’s Hot Dogs and Campelli’s Pizza will sell food during the events.
