Battery report filed after coach grabs Roseville swimmer
The mother of a female high school swimmer filed a misdemeanor battery report with the Roseville Police Department after an assistant coach allegedly grabbed her by the swim cap and pulled her by the head out of a pool.
The incident took place about 4 p.m. April 29 during the Sierra Foothill League trials at the Roseville Aquatics Complex, according to Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department.
An officer interviewed all parties involved, and the case was referred to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, Gunther said Tuesday.
The victim was competing in the swim meet and horsing around in the pool during an event, Gunther said.
“The coach was not happy and allegedly grabbed her by the swim cap and pulled her head out of the pool to stop her from what she was doing,” Gunther said, adding the swimmer didn’t report being injured.
Calls to Roseville Joint Unified High School District Director of Pupil Personnel Services Steve Williams and Roseville head swim coach Kelly Capell weren’t returned.
