Basketball clinic scheduled for April 6 at Valley Christian Academy

Signups also open for runs, golf tournaments, summer sports camps

What: The one-day camp is for boys and girls ages 8-17 and will be led by clinic director Erik Carlson of NBC Camps. The clinic also is a fundraiser for Valley Christian sophomore Lily Hagerty, who has an opportunity to travel with an NBC International Tour to Germany. Campers should bring a basketball and bottle of water.

When/Where: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Valley Christian Academy, 301 Whyte Ave., in Roseville.

Cost: The fee is $35 and includes a pizza feed.

Run Rocklin celebrates 10th annual event


What: The 10th annual Run Rocklin helps raise money for local schools and the locally run nonprofit Matt Redding Scholarship Foundation. Run Rocklin raised $16,000 last year and has now given a five-year total of $64,000 in memory of Matt Redding, a police officer who was killed while on duty in October 2005.

When/Where: Sunday, April 7, at Johnson-Springview Park, 5480 Fifth St. in Rocklin. The kids’ fun run starts at 7:45 a.m., followed by a 12K run at 8 a.m., a 5K run/walk at 8:20 and a kids’ one-mile run at 9:30.

Costs: Adults can pre-register for $34, and the cost is $39 on race day. For ages 18 and under, costs are $20 for pre-registration and $25 on race day. The kids’ runs are free.

Second annual Drive for Babies Golf Tournament


When/Where: Friday, May 3, at Turkey Creek Golf Club in Lincoln.

Cost: The cost for the four-person scramble is $125 per golfer, which includes green fee, cart, range balls, lunch and dinner. There will be a $5,000 putting shootout, four hole-in-one contests and longest-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests. Proceeds benefit the March of Dimes.

Stand Up Placer Run is May 4 at Maidu Park


What: The third annual survivors’ run is a 5K competitive run and 5K fun run/walk. Proceeds benefit crisis intervention, therapy and legal/social services advocacy.

When/Where: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Maidu Park in Roseville.

Costs: $25 per adult and $15 per child.

Diamond Creek Elementary golf tournament at Morgan Creek


What: Second annual golf tournament at Morgan Creek Golf Course. The school is raising funds to add a music enrichment program and library books.

When/Where: Friday, May 10, at Morgan Creek Golf Course, 8791 Morgan Creek Lane in Roseville.

Cost: The cost is $100 per golfer for the 18-hole scramble tournament and includes a cart and dinner.

Eich Middle School summer sports camps


When/Where: Volleyball camp dates are June 10-13, and basketball camp dates are June 17-20 at Warren T. Eich Middle School, 1509 Sierra Gardens Drive, Roseville. Camps run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

Woodcreek to hold summer boys soccer camp


When/Where: June 24-27 at the Woodcreek High School football stadium. The camp lasts from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. June 24.

Cost: The camp is open to boys entering second through eighth grades and costs are $90 per player and $75 for additional siblings.
