Avoid the 7 – 6 arrests made during Saturday’s checkpoint, one fatal DUI collision
Auburn- County law enforcement agencies have concluded the second weekend of Wwnter mobilization maximum DUI enforcement. On Saturday Dec.20, the AVOID the 7 DUI taskforce conducted a DUI checkpoint in Placer County. A total of six arrests were made. Unfortunately, there was one DUI-related fatality in the city of Roseville. AVOID enforcement operations also concentrate on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and the 17-day August/Labor Day period. During the winter mobilization maximum enforcement period, law enforcement officials conduct DUI sobriety checkpoints, task force operations and saturation patrols throughout the county and region. Additionally, all CHP areas throughout the state increase staff during the winter holiday period in an effort to arrest drunk drivers. Avoid programs, named for the number of police agencies in each county, aim to warn motorists to “avoid” being arrested for impaired driving by designating a sober driver before the parties begin. Your local police, sheriff and CHP encourage all motorists to help make your community safer by reporting drunk drivers – Call 9-1-1. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
