Another shutout for Granite Bay Pee Wees
Granite Bay’s Pee Wee football team improved to 6-1 with a 31-0 victory over Roseville on Oct. 8, the Junior Grizzlies’ fourth shutout in seven games.
Will Craig of Granite Bay recovered a fumble on Roseville’s first possession. The Junior Grizzlies scored once in each quarter on two long runs by Zach Grable and one each by Josh Farr and Blake Peterson. Doug Mitchell kicked three two-point conversions, and Noah Slate ran for the other extra point.
“It was a workmanlike effort by our kids,” Grizzlies coach Jeff Powers said. “Aside from a few penalties, I was very pleased.”
Oak Ridge 14, Woodcreek 8 — The Junior Timberwolves (4-2) took the Junior Trojans (6-0) to overtime before falling. Kody Tagert, Kyle Mills and Carlos German each had a sack for Woodcreek, Connor Maurizzio and Emmanuelle Haynes had big stops, and the Timberwolves blocked a two-point conversion attempt.
German had eight tackles and Ethan Mulhern six tackles for Woodcreek.
Josh Pontes rushed for 80 yards in 17 carries, Isaiah Ajayi carried nine times for 69 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown, and Carson March had 42 yards in nine carries running behind Maurizzio, Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Aaron-Able, Ben Sopinski, Manrose Atwal and Alex Douglass.
Junior Pee Wees
Roseville 38, Granite Bay 0 — The Junior Tigers (6-1) scored five touchdowns for the second game in a row, and the defense had 11 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in beating the Junior Grizzlies (4-2) for their fifth consecutive victory.
TJ Nichols returned a punt 40 yards for a touchdown, and Carson Blatnick’s 45-yard strike to Parker Henry capped an 18-point fourth quarter.
Blatnick and Greg Nichols were a combined 5 for 5 passing for 105 yards, including a 33-yarder from Nichols to John Separovich. Henry gained more than 100 yards for the fifth game in a row and scored three touchdowns, and Greg Nichols ran 18 yards for a score. Roseville totaled more than 280 yards.
David Chambers had a tiptoe sideline interception to stop Granite Bay on fourth down, and Alex Rodriguez had six tackles and a fumble recovery. Jordan Susbilla had four tackles, including a sack, and Kane Sanford and John Toth each recorded his first tackle.
Woodcreek 16, Oak Ridge 0 — JC Santini ran for a touchdown, and Noah Kravich had a touchdown catch and a fumble recovery for the Timberwolves (5-1) in their victory over the Trojans (1-5).
