Day one at the CIF California State Wrestling Championships is in the books at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield. Roseville's Dylan Jankovich (130 pounds) and Woodcreek's Peter Santos (125 pounds) both lost first-round bouts and then did some winning before being eliminated on the first day of competition. In the heavyweight division, Granite Bay sophomore Gavin Andrews also lost his first match, but since has pinned four straight opponents to stay alive in the consolation bracket. One more win will put Andrews into the top eight and earn a spot on the podium, but his goal on day two will be to fight his way to the third place position. Wrestling continues Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
