Two men were booked into jail Tuesday afternoon after a detailed surveillance operation by detectives reportedly led to their arrest with major quantities of Ecstasy pills and other contraband.

The arrests were executed by the Roseville police Vice and Narcotics Enforcement Team, or VNET, with support from the Placer Regional Auto Theft Task Force. According to Roseville Police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther, VNET agents had been investigating 21-year-old Kyle James Ramirez, of Roseville, and 19-year-old Anthony Jerome Trotter, of Citrus Heights. That probe led to a number of undercover police units watching the two men during the course of several hours Tuesday.

After watching and following Ramirez in the city, VNET agents detained him at the 5000 block of Foothills Boulevard in Roseville. They also contacted the Citrus Heights Police Department to coordinate detaining and searching Trotter in Sacramento County.

“They recovered … large quantities of Ecstasy pills,” Gunther said, adding the other illegal substances were also taken into evidence.

Ramirez and Trotter were both arrested on charges of possessing narcotics for sale. Ramirez is currently in the Placer County Jail and Trotter remains in custody in Sacramento.
