An all-star game no longer is just an all-star game, no matter the sport or level of play.

Oakmont High School graduate Preston Guilmet will be in Modesto next week as a member of the Carolina League all-star team that will play the California League all-stars Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.

Guilmet, however, will do more than pitch an inning in relief.

Here is the schedule for the city hosting the all-star game for the first time, keeping in mind Modesto is the hometown of George Lucas and his movie “American Graffiti” was based on his teenage years cruising the strip:

5 to 8 p.m.:
Clutch Poppin’ Parade and Fan Fest at the Gallo Center for the Arts Plaza, featuring a classic car parade, all-star player introductions, an autograph session and more. Admission is free.

3:30 p.m.:
Gates open for California and Carolina League all-star batting practice.
5:10: Miracle League Exhibition Game
5:45: Hot Rod Home Run Derby
7:15: Team introductions on the field
7:35: All-Star Smash (the actual game)
Postgame: Screamin’ Sky Show (fireworks)
