Woodcreek girls win CVC golf tourney

Roseville finishes second

Eighteen holes of the first Capital Valley Conference girls golf tournament is in the books with the Woodcreek Timberwolves coming out on top with a low score of 463 at Teal Bend Golf Course Monday.

Three Timberwolves finished in the Top 4 behind only Bella Vista’s Mia Gribskov’s 74, who was the top individual performer. The top players for Woodcreek were second-place Carmina Alves (81), third-place Macy Anderson (90) and fourth-place Natalie Armbrust (93). Sammi Duffy tied for sixth with a 94.

Woodcreek is 9-2 on the season, including an unblemished 7-0 in CVC play.

Finishing second as a team was Roseville, which scored a 496. The Tigers were paced by Kayla Hary, who tied for sixth place shooting a 94, Lexi Walter (98) and Kelsey Gill (99), who finished eighth and ninth, respectively.

Roseville is 4-2 in dual play, with the only two losses coming against the Timberwolves.

“Woodcreek is very good,” said Roseville coach Corey Fukuman. “I was very pleased with the way the girls played today.”

Rounding out the tournament was Inderkum (515) in third, Bella Vista (537) in fourth, Antelope (628) in fifth and Yuba City (641) in sixth.

Both teams are scheduled to be back on the course Tuesday – Woodcreek at Bella Vista and Roseville at Antelope – and Thursday – Woodcreek hosting Inderkum and Roseville hosting River Valley.
