The Oakmont Vikings rebounded from a rivalry loss at Roseville Aug. 24 to a resounding 36-7 road victory over Bella Vista Friday.
The Vikings got three rushing touchdowns from 5-foot-4, 150-pound running back Jordan Green, who ran eight times for 115 yards.
Green had touchdown runs of 52, 37 and 24 yards, with runs while showing bursts of speed down the sideline as well as shows of strength breaking multiple tackles on his way to the end zone.
“Jordan is dynamic, shifty and just a great kid,” said Oakmont head coach Tim Moore. “He’s got very solid skills, good change-of-direction, and he’s just athletic.”
Moore said he particularly enjoyed the way his Vikings controlled the line of scrimmage, finding holes for Green and others while limited the Broncos ground attack.
“Whenever we can control the line of scrimmage, we put ourselves in a good position to win,” said Moore.
Oakmont scored 29 first-half points before one second-half touchdown enabled Moore to insert his second string players.
“I don’t believe in running up the score to 50 points,” said Moore. “I’d rather have all my guys get in and play. They’ve been working their butts off.”
Oakmont enters its bye week this week before a true test for the Vikings Sept. 14 against Casa Roble. The Vikings have won their last three meetings with the Rams.
