Placer County Transit offering youth bus passes
Traveling around Placer County can be tough for anyone who doesn’t have a vehicle.
It can be especially tough for young students now that summer has arrived and class is no longer in session.
That’s why Roseville Transit, Placer County Transit and Auburn Transit have again teamed up to offer a summer youth bus pass that grants unlimited public transportation throughout Placer County for a one-time price of $10.
Compared to the standard general public monthly passes that cost $40 a month, the summer youth pass is very affordable for students. The program started June 1 and runs through Aug. 31.
All students up to their senior year in high school are eligible for the summer bus pass. This pass provides them ample opportunity to travel to movie theaters, restaurants, parks and commute to summer jobs with no need to bug Mom or Dad for a ride.
With students now ready to enjoy their summer vacation, public transportation in Placer County is gearing up for another busy season.
Roseville Public Works marketing and communications analyst Helen Dyda offered why the bus passes are popular.
”It’s been a long-running program and we are thrilled to offer it,” Dyda said. “The summer youth pass is a great way for kids who don’t have a car to get around Placer County. It’s a great way for kids who may not have access to transportation to enjoy intercity travel throughout Placer County. This is an affordable way for kids to get where they need to go.”
