The 10th annual Rocklin Brewfest is ready to take you on a tour of over 40 breweries and seven wineries, all in one location.

This event has grown immensely over the past decade and isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

“We started at Sunset Whitney

Golf Course with about 300 people, now we have about 2,000 attendees,” Tony Owings, 2018 Rocklin Brewfest chair, said.

Guests look forward to this event all year as they enjoy an afternoon tasting beer, socializing, playing games and listening to live music. Strikes is sponsoring and providing a live band for this event, but as of press time, it was not confirmed. Also included again this year is a silent auction and raffle.

“Nothing really new this year, how do you improve perfection, right?” Owings joked.

Organizers are looking at offering a VIP tent next year, but that is also not confirmed.

The money from this event goes into the South Placer Rotary Foundation and is used in a variety of programs throughout the community.

Last year, some of the money went to replacing fire alarms and smoke detectors in the mobile homes in Rocklin. Sierra College has also been a benefactor from the funds.

“We do Hooked on Fishing, where we take 50 third-graders out fishing at the big Lincoln fish farm,” Owings said. “We do Christmas baskets for needy families in Rocklin every Christmas; those include jackets, age-appropriate gifts for the kids and families.”

The South Placer Rotary Foundation also takes 50 eighth-graders to the State Science Museum to learn about science, technology, engineering and math also known as STEM. They offer grant programs as well as scholarships to students at both Whitney High School and Victory High School.

So, enjoy a spring afternoon beer tasting with friends and meeting new people, all the while benefiting the community.
