Our View

Tribune to expand weekly news content

-A +A

Over the last several months, we have made many changes to the focus of our coverage here in the South Placer region.

As we have worked diligently to focus on getting back to community news, especially in our Roseville and Rocklin newspapers, we have met with many members of the community. From community leaders, public service agencies to just plain folks who love to have their newspaper each week, we have heard many compliments of the direction we have taken and we have heard many suggestions as well.

One of the biggest suggestions we heard and have recently addressed, was the timeliness of when it appeared in your local newspapers. Prior to a couple of months ago, much of the news on our pages of this paper was often more than a week old due to press schedules, distribution logistics and a number of components that are part of the day-to-day operations of Gold Country Media.

In an effort to bring you a dose of more current news from the week, we recently moved this publication back to a Friday publication. This change allowed us to bring you more up-to-date coverage of local council meetings, breaking news of the week and a look ahead to the weekend so you could make your plans to get out and about. It’s a change that has been very welcomed in the community. We listened and we put your request into action. But we have only just begun.

One of the other items that has topped the list of input that our publishers have heard in their numerous visits in the community is the fact that our readers deserve more. More coverage of what is going on right outside of their own community, but within the boundaries of South Placer County. All too often, there is big news in Rocklin that affects those here in Roseville or is of interest to those in Loomis. On that same token, often times we have news in Loomis that would be of interest to those throughout the area. Perhaps it’s a new unique business, a local eatery or even breaking news.

So, beginning with this edition, look for more news of the local region that is important along with all of your city news as well. Beginning in June, look for more pages in this newspaper and even bigger, bolder, better content as well. We will be bringing you an expanded weekly newspaper that is packed with what is happening throughout Roseville and much of Placer County.

More news, more features, more entertainment. Our focus will always remain on community and we strive to bring you the stories you aren’t going to find elsewhere. That is the beauty of a community newspaper and why it is so vital in the community.

We look forward to continuing our engagement in all the communities we serve and bringing you a dynamic, well balanced local news resource week after week.
