College Corner is a recurring feature that highlights news and coming events from Placer County’s institutions of higher learning.
The Sierra College Patrons, a Sierra College Foundation support group, is having a lunch May 7 for those interested in becoming members.
The lunch and informative talk on container gardens will be by nursery manager Rich Swanson at Bushnell Gardens Nursery.
A nursery tour will follow.
Bushnell’s Nursery and Garden Center is a second generation, family-owned business that began on its current site in Granite Bay more than 20 years ago. Over the years, it evolved from a family sheep ranch to a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm to today’s wholesale and retail plant nursery and home decor center.
A box lunch is available for $11. To reserve a spot and order lunch, contact Joan Edwards at 916-663-3408 or firstname.lastname@example.org. RSVP deadline is April 30.
The Sierra College Patrons formed in 1984 and provides financial support to the college’s arts and humanities departments.
The group provides more than $10,000 in grants each year. Grants are designed to directly affect students as much as possible.
Since its inception, the Patrons have donated more than $360,000 to Sierra College.
