Woodcreek High School Musical Theatre presents “Fiddler on the Roof” for six performances.
“Fiddler on the Roof” is based on the beloved story of the small, tradition-steeped town of Anatevka, Russia, where Jews and Russians live in delicate balance. In this classic, the traditions of Anatevka are both embraced and challenged by Tevye and his colorful community, as they witness his daughters, Tzeitel, Hodel and Chava, grow up and fall in love in a time of extraordinary change.
“Fiddler on the Roof” is directed by Adrienne Dritz-Mars, who has been directing works on the Woodcreek stage since the school opened in 1994. She has also directed productions at Roseville Theatre Arts Academy and Sutter Street Theatre.
This show is very important because it is a story of resilience, of keeping life in balance and holding on to traditions as the world around you feels like it is starting to crumble, Dritz-Mars said.
The audience can “humanize the many who come from all regions of the world to America looking for a new beginning after being driven from their homeland. It helps us to understand the need they have to try to hold on to the traditions that keep their lives in balance,” according to the director.
The cast includes Mason Mack (Tevye), Katie Zimmerman (Golde), Megan Canchola (Tzeitel), Mason Santa Catalina (Mote), Claire Quillen (Hodel), Carson Sloan (Perchik), Bella Mars (Chava), Kellen Moran (Fyedka) and Sophie Brunnquell (Yente) with an ensemble.
“Fiddler on the Roof” is presented at 7 p.m. tonight through Saturday and then April 19 to April 21 in the Woodcreek High School Theatre, 2551 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. Tickets are $10 each and can be bought at the door or online.
