The Placer Food Bank is hoping that twice as many food drives than were held in 2011 will yield a big increase in donations.

According to Dave Martinez, the food bank’s executive director, the agency is experiencing a 20 percent increase in demand from last year. The food bank’s community partners have reacted by gearing up for double the food drives. Martinez said that, if the various food drives reach their collection goals, then the food bank will be in a position meet all of its commitments to those locals in need.

He added that residents who make donations through Feeding can get a three-to-one match on their donation from Bank of America.
