As part of a nationwide event spearheaded by Keep Music Alive, an organization that promotes the value of music in people’s lives, the Roseville Piano & Music Studio will host an open house and studio tour Oct. 7, according to a news release.

For the first-ever incarnation of what it calls “Kids Music Day,” Keep Music Alive has partnered with more than 60 music schools in 19 states to plan open houses, student performances and musical instrument drives. The intent is to promote the importance of music in education.

“We recognize that so many public schools across the country are cutting or reducing their music and arts programs. Research has shown how critical music and art education are to developing our children’s minds and character,” said Vincent James, co-founder of Keep Music Alive and Kids Music Day, in a prepared statement. “Our mission is to spotlight musical programs, wherever possible, to help raise awareness of how valuable music really is to our children and our collective future.”
