Kitten Central of Placer County is one of the few neonatal rescue/treatment centers for bottle dependant kittens in the region.

Its’ mission statement is to “reduce euthanasia rates for medically dependent neonate kittens through action and education,” according to founder Penny Dougherty.

Kitten Central of Placer County employs one part-time paid registered vet tech and is open daily 24 hours a day. The organization has more than 80 volunteers who help every day.

To raise funds, the nonprofit organization will hold an inaugural Halloween fundraiser Oct. 27 at Rocklin Event Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd., Rocklin.

“This event will be all inclusive as Randy Peters will be catering. We will have sirloin steak and gouda mashed potatoes,” Dougherty said. “We will also have a casino and a fortune teller on site. Usually, we do an annual bake sale the week before Thanksgiving where we sell between 300 and 500 pounds of our famous fudge. We will be featuring a ‘Black Cat Blast,’ which will be our very own chocolate martini.”
