To accompany the third annual "Plates and Totems Invitational" exhibit at Blue Line Arts, children are invited to create and decorate their own 5-inch clay plates, which will then be displayed at the time of the exhibit.

“Create a Plate” is open to children 6-13 years old. There will be two workshop times April 6 and 13; artists may choose one of those times each day, but must attend both workshop dates to complete the project.

Saturday, April 6, will be a plate-building workshop. Blue Line will provide the kids with a starting clay template and teach them basic clay techniques to build on top of the plate. The plate will then be taken to Alpha Fired for a first firing to prepare the plates for painting. Saturday, April 13, will be a plate-painting workshop. Blue Line will provide provide glazes of various colors so the kids will have a chance to enhance their designs. Basic glazing techniques will also be taught.

Show dates are April 16 through June 1. An artists reception will be held from 6-7 p.m. Saturday, April 20. The completed painting will be a donation to Blue Line’s upcoming auction for its yearly fundraiser. Artwork may be purchased for $25.
