A ‘Bluebird’ will soon be singing sweet tunes for local schools.

Bluebird by eScrip is a new group-buying program that generates money for the school or nonprofit youth organization of the buyer’s choice. Bluebird delivers local merchant discounts in dining, family attractions, entertainment and groceries — $2.50 of every purchase goes to the school or youth group.

EScrip initially launched in the Bay Area, but is now expanding to Roseville, Granite Bay, Rocklin and Sacramento.

“We are so excited at the opportunity Bluebird brings to our school,” said Patty Ingram, of Oakhills School’s Parent Teacher Council in Granite Bay. “Our families will benefit from buying local deals at an attractive discount, while also supporting our group with each purchase.”

In order to make Bluebird deals more attractive to a large group of buyers, once a predetermined number of people purchase the advertised deal, the price drops further so that everyone receives a bonus discount. This bonus motivates participants to spread the word so more purchasers join.
